Spellings will be handed out every Thursday, for a test on the following Thursday. Each child is required to complete the spelling sheet. Each word requires a definition. Also please complete the noun, infinitive, adjective, adverb, synonym and antonym for each word IF POSSIBLE. Please note that there may be no sensible noun, infinitive or adjective for every word.
Failure to hand In the spellings sheet, or complete it to a suitable standard, by the test day will result in a negative dojo.
Above are the spellings for this half of term. Feel free to look at them with your child. The relevant worksheets will only be handed out on a weekly basis. An example of how the spellings worksheet is to be completed is above. Your children have also been shown this in class. There is also a blank spellings worksheet available if the weeks spellings are mislaid.
Your child will be tested BY THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD so it is imperative that they learn this.
Your child has also brought home a list of National Curriculum Year 5&6 spelling words that every child should know by the time they leave primary school.
I expect your child to learn these spellings and I will administer ad hoc spelling tests throughout the year, with no notice. Some of these words will also appear on their weekly spelling lists.
|Spring Term: We will be making a main course this term of tuna fish cakes with a bean salad. Each group will be eating this once they have cooked it, for their lunch, in the cooking room. If your child doesn't think that they will enjoy it please make sure they bring in their own lunch/order a school lunch to eat, as normal, in the school dining hall.|
