Incredible Edibles at LCPS
For 6 years we have been creating and growing our Edible Garden project at Little Chalfont Primary School, transforming what was a blank grassy courtyard next to the school hall into a vibrant allotment-style garden space full of life, smells, tastes and immersive experiences. Our film above shows our early days in 2022 - we've come a long way since.
We teach our children all about how to connect with the land and their environment, boosting biodiversity and becoming climate-aware eco-conscious citizens, through growing a plethora of incredible edibles - flowers, fruit, roots, stems and shoots. From beans to bananas we are having fun with our food, learning resilience, finding happiness and all at the same time expanding our curriculum, supporting our children's wellbeing, mental health and friendships.

An invitation - we're opening our gates!
This coming Friday 17th July 2026, between 5pm and 7pm we are opening our doors to Little Chalfont and are holding a Community Open Evening in the Edible Garden where we would like to welcome our neighbours, friends and supporters outside of the school to come and visit and see what a special place the Edible Garden has become!
Everyone is welcome - please do spread the word, and look out for our column in the July 2026 Little Chalfont Community Association (LCCA) newsletter. Gates will be open from 5pm, we will be doing a short talk and tours of the garden at 6pm, and hope to have some refreshments and garden produce and plants also available for sale - first come first served! Please do put the time and date in your diaries and invite your neighbours to come along with you. There are lots of people in the wider village whose children have gone through the school, or were even pupils themselves many moons ago, and we hope that it will be a lovely occasion to share with everyone some of the sustainability initiatives and outdoor learning enrichment that this project and the primary school has brought to the village, and maybe even to surprise with the possibilities that have been achieved since and our hopes for the future!
It will also be an opportunity to look round and explore whether you might like to be involved with the garden going forward - we are looking for more volunteers and supporters to keep the garden going from September, and all interest is welcomed, whether skilled gardeners or just interested or enthusiastic beginners. If you are planning on coming along, please RSVP on the google form below, as space is limited and we would like to ensure we can cater for numbers!
