Incredible Edible Garden Project at LCPS
We teach our children all about how to connect with the land and their environment, boosting biodiversity and becoming climate-aware eco-conscious citizens, through growing a plethora of incredible edibles - flowers, fruit, roots, stems and shoots. From beans to bananas we are having fun with our food, learning resilience, finding happiness and all at the same time expanding our curriculum, supporting our children's wellbeing, mental health and friendships.
Please do come along and see what a special place we have created, and find out how you could get involved and support this fantastic project to continue.
We are fundraising! 6 weeks to double your donation!
We need you!
For this life-affirming project to continue we need to raise the funds for it to be self-supporting outside of school budgets. Despite all the brilliant things this project brings, there is no core funding available from government education budgets.
Crowdfunding
We have a brilliant opportunity this summer - for 6 weeks of the holidays, until midday on 2nd September 2026, ALL your donations will be matched funded by AVIVA Community Fund, at this link here https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/little-chalfont-primary-school-edible-garden - please click through, read all about it, and do support us and all that we do.
This is limited to:
- UNIQUE donations only - multiple donations from the same name/email/bank account will only be treated as the first donation made - please make your single donation count!
- £250 for individual donations - please donate from separate accounts/names/emails if you wish to donate more!
- £25,000 maximum from Aviva - this would still be an AMAZING £50,000 total if we can get donations of £25,000!
We would LOVE for our community to get behind this brilliant project, and ensure that it can continue to grow and bring the joy and learning enrichment it has delivered in the last 5 years to our children, their families, our village and the future.
There are lots of people in the wider village whose children have gone through the school, or were even pupils themselves many moons ago, and we hope that this opportunity will be a lovely chance to support some of the sustainability initiatives and outdoor learning enrichment that this project and the primary school has brought to the village, and maybe even to surprise with the possibilities and our hopes for the future!
Whilst you can continue to pledge after the summer holidays and we are grateful for everything, donations will only be matched by Aviva during the 6 weeks of our summer of garden love! So please use your pledge to best effect :)
All of the funds raised by this crowdfunder will be held in a ring-fenced fund with the Little Chalfont Primary School Parent Teacher Association (LCPS PTA), registered charity 1066770, for the use of the Incredible Edible Garden project at LCPS.
Volunteering
We are looking for more volunteers and supporters to keep the garden going from September 2026, and all interest is welcomed, whether skilled gardeners or just interested or enthusiastic beginners, whether individuals, friends or corporate groups.
We welcome anyone who would like to try anything outdoor learning related! Our volunteers can get involved in everything from composting, pruning, seed sowing, propagation, transplanting, potting on, painting, washing greenhouses and cold frames, cleaning materials and equipment, repairing and maintaining our crop structures, working in our polytunnel, building new things, bringing fun growing ideas to life, cooking and preserving produce, entering shows and displaying our produce, as well as behind the scenes skills like fundraising, social media, photography and accounting! Or if there is something you are particularly interested in exploring which isn't in that list, we can look at that too.
Our weekly exploits are detailed on the back pages of the school newsletters which can be found by clicking here.
