At LCPS, we aim to develop confident, physically literate students equipped with a range of skills and strategies across multiple sports. Our curriculum fosters resilience, teamwork, and a lifelong love for movement while promoting respect, goal-setting, and responsibility for personal well-being. Through structured lessons and enrichment activities, we ensure every child is prepared for an active, healthy lifestyle.
PE is delivered through peplanning, a structured planning scheme, ensuring inclusivity and progression. Each student participates in two hours of meticulously planned PE sessions weekly, led by expert coaches or class teachers. The curriculum follows a sequential approach, allowing for continuous skill development year by year. Lessons are designed to be engaging and purposeful, helping students apply their learning in real-world contexts.
Children will have a positive attitude towards physical education and team sports, approaching new sports with a “can-do” mindset. They will demonstrate key values such as respect, rule adherence, and empathy towards both teammates and opponents. Our holistic approach extends beyond physical skills, encouraging students to set personal aspirations related to PE and fostering a lasting commitment to health and fitness. Strong links with PSHE reinforce self-discipline and responsibility for well-being. By the end of Year 6, our students will achieve a significant milestone, demonstrating their swimming proficiency by covering a distance of 25m.
