At LCPS, we follow the Talk 4 Writing learning sequence: our children study an excellent model text to know why it's great; they internalise the text and can re-tell it with confidence; they work with the teacher to write another exciting text using the features of the model; they write their own text applying all the knowledge they have accumulated during the unit of work.
The grammatical skills required to be a great writer are progressively sequenced across the school and are taught in relation to the example texts in each unit.
Children's writing is continuously assessed in a formative way before their final writing enables summative assessment to take place.
